Maria Kyriacou Dip (RAD), DPhil (Oxford)
Ballroom Dance Teacher & Creative Director
Maria is a dance artist, Ballroom dance teacher and choreographer. She graduated from the World Renowned Royal Academy of Dance with a Distinction in Dance Performance and Teaching. She was also a Scholar at the University of Oxford, where she obtained a Doctorate in Child Development. Maria has a wealth of experience as a ballroom dance teacher, teaching both adults and children as young as 3, preparing them for exams, performances or simply teaching them to Ballroom dance.
Maria started her dance training at the age of 8 in Classical Ballet. Since then, life hasn’t been the same. Growing up, she received intensive training in Ballroom dancing and Latin American dancing from some of the world’s best teachers and took part in a number of competitions over the years, receiving highly commended awards. Maria loves the stage and had the honour to perform in various shows in England and Wales.
Using her knowledge and skills from two of the most prestigious institutions in the world, Maria decided to dedicate her time and experience on what she believes can make a real difference in the lives of children and those in their environment. Live 4 Dancing was inspired not only by her passion for Ballroom dance but also by the lifelong physical, social, personal benefits that Ballroom dance has to offer. Maria’s Ballroom dance teaching aims to build a standard of excellence in dance for every student, regardless of their level of experience or confidence and is fun, friendly and motivating.
I cannot rate Maria’s dance school highly enough. You will not find a more patient yet passionate teacher. Highly recommended.Karen (happy mum, Ballroom Juniors, ages 4-7)
My son loves dancing and Maria is amazing with him. She is patient and encouraging and has a brilliant relationship with the kids. My son is autistic and watches Strictly all the time and he adores Maria. Thank you so much for making a little boy so happy.Brenda (happy mum, Ballroom Juniors, ages 8-13)
